Hemyock Pre School has moved!

Pre-SchoolAt long last we have moved into our own building! On the 4th January the children started the spring term in our specially refurbished portakabin on the Primary School site. This is an extremely exciting time for everyone who has ever been involved in the running of the Pre School and who knows the years of hard work and failed premises proposals that have preceded this move. Many previous committees, staff and parents have put in much hard work fundraising to get us to the point where we were in a position to be able to actually move! Thank you from all the present committee and staff for all your efforts……the hard work has finally paid off!

In addition, we would like to thank Chris Draycott and Brian Clist for their kind donation to our premises project at the end of last year. Your help in this way has been much appreciated.

We have been extremely grateful for the help of people within the village in preparing the portakin ready for use. They have worked day (and night!) so that we were able to meet the deadline! In particular, Euan Roberts (ARC Electrical), Jason Emery, Chris Upton, Michelle and Johnny Colman, Tim Robinson, Phil Oaten, Robin Loughery, Simon Oaten, Jane Aldsworth, Steve Cooksley, Richard
Smith, Richard Percy and Rob the Plumber! Without you we would still be knee deep in emulsion and dust!

We would also like to thank Mrs. Gill Peters and all the staff and Governors at the Primary School for there support and patience with us whist the building work was going ahead, we are looking forward to enhancing the relationship the Pre School already has with the School and together facilitating the children's lives as they start on their educational journey. Our 'Grand opening' is scheduled
for the 15th January at 2pm, we are looking forward to seeing many past committee members at this event.

Although much has changed for the Pre School, the children still seem to have settled well to their new routine and we are finding that the afternoon sessions are working well. The children have been learning about 'ourselves' and 'the world around us'.

The usual activities are continuing such as play dough, dressing up, story time, painting as well as some regular outside play in the School playground. This term, Adam Cole, Lottie Evans, Jessica Hayman, Samuel Arrowsmith, William Machin, Daniel Travers, Ann-Marie Pyne, Ruby Downing-Martin and Benjamin Simpson have all joined us, we hope they will be very happy!
