Hemyock Acorn's Group had an enjoyable meeting in August. 34 members were welcomed by the Chairman Mary Hawkins. After the brief business session, it was agreed to have a trip to Bath on November 13th 2008. Mary then introduced Jim and Tracey, two police officers who were spending the day in Hemyock. Members were given cards to write down any worries they may have. No matter how trivial,Jim assured members they would be read. He said he would like to spend more time in the village, but there is a large area to cover in Mid Devon and matters crop up which take up a lot of his time. Jim was able to tell members about the Tour of Britain Cycle Race which is passing through Hemyock on September 9th. He was thanked by Mary.
The annual quiz was prepared and presented by Norman Leighton. The questions had members thinking hard. There was keen competition but the winners were table one with 20 points closely followed by table two who managed 19 points. Thanked by Mary, Norman was presented with gifts by Jeanne Johnson. This was followed by refreshments and the excellent raffle.
New members are always welcome. the Acorns meet on the third Wednesday of each month in the Parish Hall at 2.45pm.
