Unsurprisingly, winter has been a popular theme at pre-school, with brightly coloured snowmen and other chilly themes adorning the walls. The children have also been having fun learning numbers through rhymes and stories. Old or young, we all have a favourite story and the children have been sharing their own favourites with their classmates. As Chinese New Year approaches, the children will celebrate by tasting different food and dressing up in costume. We miss those who left us last term to start school and our loving wishes go to Corey Chillcott, Freya Drew-Goss, Lottie Evans, Kimberley Hawkins, Paige Knight, Amelia Moore, Ysabel Newcombe, Maisie Pepperell, Alex Parker and Daisy Young. We hear you are all settling in really well.
We had our busiest time fundraising before Christmas with our Bazaar, Bingo and Grand Draw raising well over £1000 in total. We plan to put this toward a new canopy in the playground to ensure the children are well protected in our now regular extremes of weather. We are also planning some small changes to the entrance area to make it more welcoming.
We are very excited about our new fundraiser, the '100 club' that has now been officially launched. We offer a regularly monthly draw prize (£50 at Christmas, £25 at Easter) and tickets cost £10 each. Contact Jacqui Hutter (01823 681070) or a Committee member for your ticket(s) - there are only 100 tickets available and are selling fast so don't miss out! The deadline is the end of February with the first draw taking place in March.
A final note of thanks to Sarah Loughrey for helping us benefit from free books via the sales of Puffin books and to all parents who supported 'Easyfundraising', helping us raise £20 to date. Your continued support is very much appreciated. Thank you also to everyone in the Hemyock community who supported us in the past year - as a Registered Charity, we simply cannot offer this facility without you.
