News from the Bowling Club

As the Bowling Club is only really active during the summer months there is very little to report this time. There are maintenance jobs to be done on the Green and its surrounds and to the clubhouse itself, of course.

One of these jobs has been tackled recently. The fir hedge, at the bottom boundary of the Green, has been severely trimmed by Ken Simmons and his small team of helpers, with Colin Risdon, the hedging expert, and John Bendle the provider of transport to haul all the debris away. A job well done and many thanks to all concerned.

I understand that there has been a problem with a burst water main in close proximity to the bowling green. Thankfully this was not a problem for the Club, as the fractured water main was due to the severe weather, and occurred under the road.

There will be more to report next time as we look forward to the start of the new outdoor season, and I will be including a history of the club.
