Over 70 people joined in and celebrated the 7th annual Easter Monday morning ramble for the family at Hemyock. A pretty route through the Blackdowns and very warm and sunny weather made the occasion extra special. Organised by Hemyock Baptist Church, the all age walkers made their way up over Ashculme Hill to a pleasant coffee stop at Peter & Fredericke Reed's home which affords beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. The return leg to Hemyock took in the Clayhidon Turbary, Grays Lane and the river Culm.
“Easter is one of the best times of the year to visit the Blackdowns” said walker Hazel Reed. “Everything is beginning to grow and the wildflowers look great”. The walk was coordinated by trained leader Julie Steed, who took a special interest in the route, stewards and safety procedures. A pasta lunch prepared by Anne Sworn, Chris Hudson and a team of helpers was served at the church when walkers returned.
