Two members of Hemyock Baptist Church have been inducted as volunteers into the Chaplaincy Team at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton at a special Commissioning Service. Anne Sworn, who is also on the Leadership Team at the church, is to be a Chaplaincy visitor to Ward 5 which is the Gynaecology ward. Anne is a retired Midwife which particularly suits her to her new voluntary role. Monica Smith will be a regular member of the Stewarding Team at the Hospital Chapel. Monica is a retired school teacher.
Both ladies have successfully completed an ten week part time training course to fit them for their respective roles. The induction service was led by Senior Chaplain Jeff Gosden when Certificates were presented to Anne, Monica and several others who had also completed their training.
Adrian Prior-Sankey who is Chairman of Taunton Christians Together was the speaker at the service. He commended the important patient centred work of all the volunteers who were being commissioned saying that “such work was clearly following the teachings of Jesus to take care of others especially those who were sick”.
