Barry Jennings was undoubtedly  just the right person to talk on issues of science and faith to Hemyock Men.  Barry retired from being Research Director at English China Clays and Research professor at Reading University as well as being a visiting Fellow at several Universities before being ordained into the Church of England.

In what was an overview of the thinking of the scientific greats from Darwin onwards, Professor Jennings shared that there was absolutely no need for conflict between science and scriptures and that they could reside happily alongside each other.  Indeed, scientific study continually confirmed what scriptures had said many years before.  Certainly there was no end to knowledge he said and saw that reason and faith together would continue to prove the existence of a loving and benevolent God.  Commenting after the breakfast, David Palmer said it was good to see  “that being an eminent scientist in no way prevented one from being a Christian too”.
