Pre-School News - August & September 07

Although the summer term seems to have been wetter than the spring. It hasn't dampened the children's enthusiasm for events and activities. Themes this term have continued to look at habitats, including, sea, hedgerows, sky, and polar regions. The children have also been learning about each others favorite stories and pets.

During this term Niamh Higgins and Kieran King have joined us, whilst Molly Bowden, Michael Hurley, Finn Buckley, Rebecca Meade, Hattie Wallace, Faith Whittaker and Abbey Kittow will all be leaving us to start Primary School in September. We wish them well as they take this important step.

We have also had some staff changes Loraine Beckett, our Administrator stepped down, Georgina Fairbrother and Sarah Cooling joined our team of Pre School leaders, it is good to have you aboard!

Our outside play area is now completed and is looking fantastic! We are hoping to add some shrubs to a small garden area very soon. The Children have enjoyed outdoor play despite the weather and a secure outdoor area gives them this opportunity.

On the 22nd June the sun shone (just about!) for our Sponsored Pedal and Push. Various modes of transport were used to complete the 4 laps of the School Playground with scenes reminiscant of a Grand Prix! Well done to all the Children that took part and a huge 'thank you' to all the parents, friends and children from 1L that supported them on the day and gave sponsorship. All money raised is put back into Pre School to improve facilities and equipment as well as keeping the Pre School building maintained.

On June 29th we had our summer outing to Creally Adventure Park, The weather was reasonable! the children (and parents!) had a fantastic time.

Also in June we held our Summer Bingo, Thank you to everyone who supported this event, we raised just over £200 for Pre School funds and hope to make this another annual fixture!

Our waiting list is growing rapidly, sessions and Lunch Clubs are now full on most days for September, although numbers will drop again in January as more children leave to start School. If you would like your child to be put on the waiting list, whilst we are waiting to fill the Administrators position, please contact Dawn on 681197 ASAP. Children can be put on this list from age 0 onwards. Please note, by putting your child on the waiting list you are not reserving specific days/sessions, simply booking a place. Someone will contact you nearer the time your child is due to start to let you know which days/sessions are available, we will do our best to accommodate specific needs at busy times as places allow.
