Patient care for people with breathing difficulties is improving all the time according to Specialist Respiratory Nurse Sarah Godeck who was this months speaker at the Blackdown Hills Breathe Easy Group held at the Baptist Church, Hemyock last Thursday.
Sarah works out of Wyndham House Surgery, Silverton which is a practice with 4,500 people where they have done some enterprising work for those with respiratory problems. For example, Health Forecasting is achieved by partnering with the Met Office. Patients who suffer respiratory problems may receive useful weather data on email or text or the surgery will ring affected patients to let them have the information. Another example were their Community Workshops which give information on Smoking cessation, healthy eating, inhaler techniques and medication.
The next speaker will be Dr McLintock on The Psychology of Change when the group meets on 25th October.
