Hemyock Pre-School News

Pre-SchoolPre-school children have been busy busy busy over the last couple of months: The arrival of a Fire Engine plus four firemen caused much excitement, and that wasn't just amongst the children! No fires I hasten to qualify; the visit was purely educational and the children toured the engine and used the hoses.

Themes for this month have included shapes in the environment and the children put together two colourful displays of the farm and the sea that now proudly adorn the walls of pre-school. They also learnt about special events such as weddings, Easter and Christmas and dressed up and made cards.

Yet another huge crowd attended pre-school's summer bingo on 26th June.  Several individuals couldn't believe their luck as they managed to walk away with 2 or 3 prizes a piece. Thank you to everyone who took part.

At the end of June we had our pre-school summer outing to Crealy Adventure Park. Around 65 pre-school children, siblings, mums, dads, grannies, granddads and staff came along. The bus added to the excitement of the day and the weather was very kind to us. It was a fantastic and exhausting day.

The children had lots of fun doing laps of the playground at the Pedal and Push on 4th July. They went around on bikes, scooters and pushchairs - basically, anything that had wheels! Well done to our children and thank you to sponsors.

Our next event is a Wine and Wisdom evening to be held on Friday 26th September at Hemyock Parish Hall 7pm for 7.30 pm start. Tickets are £5 per person. Piers Pepperell is our Quizmaster and there will be a delicious light supper and a plentiful supply of wine. Gather a team of 6 people and reserve a table by contacting Sarah Machin on 680611 or email SarahMachin@btinternet.com. Book early to avoid disappointment!

As we come to the end of term, we say a fond farewell to those who are leaving us to attend School in September. It is also time to extend our sincere gratitude to committee members who are standing down. Dawn Redwood devoted 5 years to the pre-school committee and was an extremely committed fundraiser. We are also very saddened to be losing our current Chairperson, Nicky Emery and Secretary Sue Upton who were instrumental in organising us into our new premises. If you would like to become involved 'behind the scenes' of Pre-School, contact Anne Persey (680124) or anyone on the committee for more information. You'd be most welcome - it's lots of fun and very rewarding.
