Access To Care Conference for the Blackdown Hills

Anyone concerned for the future of the delivery of healthcare in the Blackdown Hills will want to attend an upcoming health conference says retired GP Jonathan Meads who is chairing the organising group.The NHS and Social Services will adopt new government community health strategies this year under the designation My Life – My Choice.
The Blackdown Health Consortium (BHC), a partnership of professional and voluntary bodies, which engages with community health issues, is holding the Conference on “Accessibility of Care in the Blackdown Hills” on Thursday, 6th November, which will consider ways of enhancing access to care in the Hills.
The speakers will include key regional professionals such as Rebecca Carmichael - Public Health Commissioner for Devon - On Keeping people well and in their Community, and also Jan Ingram, Devon PCT on – Care of the Elderly in the Community.
“We have very good healthcare in the Blackdown Hills and our aim in putting on this conference is to encourage excellence” aid Jonathan Meads. The Blackdown Health Consortium are keen to hear from those professionals or carers who will be impacted by the upcoming changes in order that the conference will benefit the widest possible audience.
