As the harsh winter becomes a memory our thoughts turn to the coming summer. Hemyock Cricket Club will be playing in Division F of the re-formulated Devon Cricket League on eighteen Saturdays from May 2nd. Our opponents will include local neighbours Culmstock and Upottery and our local urban rivals Cullompton. In addition to twelve friendly fixtures to be played on Sunday afternoons, the Club will play more matches in the new 20/20 format than ever before with eleven midweek fixtures including those in the Devon Midweek League. Spectators are welcome to attend our matches. The Club's Annual Quiz Night takes place on Friday 17th April at 7.30pm in the Village Hall.
A new venture this year will be the Village Cricket Tournament and Fun Day to be held on Sunday 30th August. The intention is to have some intra-club fun Cricket with other activities for all the family. There will be drinks and food to purchase. There would be four games with 12 overs per side - two semi-finals then Losers Final and Grand Final. Starts at 11.30, finish at 6pm or so. More details later.
In preparation for the new season, nets are booked for Sunday 12th and 19th April at Kings Hall School Taunton, 11.00am - 1.00pm Outdoor nets start on Tuesday 22nd April from 6.30pm at the Recreation Ground where the Club's new fielding net will get its first outing. Our first fixture is a friendly away to Nynehead on Sunday 26th April.
The Club is always happy to recruit new players. We have a lively calendar of events throughout the year. For more information please contact the secretary Neil Punnett on neilpunnett@aol.com or 01823 680972
