Pre-School News June 2009

Pre-SchoolWell what a few weeks it has been! Following an early AGM we are now under new management with a brand new committee, who are keen to move forwards and are working very hard to bring the Pre-school's profile back to the forefront.

We have a fantastic resource here, which benefits greatly by being in the grounds of Hemyock Primary School affording extremely good relations with the foundation stage  teachers, Miss Cornish and Mrs Risdon and the children in their classes along with the Head teacher Mrs Peters. This really helps our older children and their parents make that difficult step from Pre- to Primary school.

Our Easter Bingo went with a bounce and as our fundraising team only had 2 weeks to organise the whole event which included a paper Easter egg hunt, and a fantastic raffle with wonderful prizes, we must congratulate them for managing to raise a stunning £470 for pre-school funds. We would like to extend our warmest thanks to all those who supported us and much gratitude goes to Avril Webb who did a sterling job of caller.

We are holding a sponsored Pedal and Push with the children on 19th June 2009 at 9.15am, any funds raised will go directly to the Pre-school coffers, and the local press will be there to record the moment!

Our thanks go to Claire Baldwin and Philippa Chave who have donated the takings of the bar at their Children's Christenings. They raised a fabulous £140, which they would like to put towards a much needed sign for the Pre-school.

We gave all the children a tube of Smarties, and all that we asked in return was for the parents to fill the tube with coins. We have had several tubes back already. So with much thanks to our fundraising coordinator Sadie Bambury, it looks to be a profitable years fundraising.

On behalf of Hemyock Pre-school we would like to thank Numatic International for donating us a Henry vacuum cleaner together with an Airo brush it is very much appreciated and will be put to good use.

Our summer trip is booked for Friday 3rd July where we will be descending 'en masse' to The Fun Farm. We have invited the local toddler groups too. Thanks go to Redwoods coaches who will be transporting us. I hope that the weather will stay good for us.

The Themes for this term have been spring, Easter, mini beasts, and pond life. The children visited the local pond where they did a little bit of fishing; great fun was had by all. We have just moved onto planting, so look out Alan Titchmarsh, we have some budding gardeners amongst us.

We welcome Jessica Bettison-Holt and James Livermore to Pre-school, and are pleased to see the return of Ethan Galway. It is great to see a few new faces joining our community. With that in mind, if you have a child aged 2 ½ years or older and you would like to visit us, give us call. We are a friendly bunch and welcome visitors' at any time. We do have a waiting list and it is advisable to put your child's name on it even if you are unsure when your child would like to start.

You would be entitled to 12 ½ free hours per week, which adds up to 5 sessions, from the term after their 3rd birthday. Plus if you need that little bit of extra 'you' time, for a small fee, we hold 4 lunch clubs per week. You can either call our administrator Sarah Kenny on 01823 680726, or email her at chrisandsarahb@hotmail.co.uk . We look forward to meeting you.
