Hemyock Pre-School News

Pre-SchoolAs we start the school year it's great to see all the new faces! We welcome Ashley Crabtree, Grace Durman, Sam Foster, Molly Hawker, Rachel King, Teagan Leavey, and Lydia Persey. In November Matthew Parker and Marcia Knight will be joining us. The new children are enjoying themselves and their parents are proud to see them settling in well.

At the end of summer term the pre-school enjoyed sports day, everyone had a great time on the field. There were egg & spoon races, backwards race, aeroplane & horse race, obstacles and much to the amusement of the children even the mums and dads races! All the children were fantastic and received medals and certificates for their success! The leavers ceremony took place on the last day of term, the parents were invited to see a presentation led by Tracey.

The children leaving us to move up to primary school were presented with a gift from pre-school along with their records and school transition forms.

We're excited to get this terms activities underway, the theme being 'All about me!' Just a few of the weekly topics the children will learn about include eyes, hair, height, feet, hands, senses and where we live.

The staff would like to ask if anyone has any old/spare factual magazines including national geographic, farming magazines, car brochures that could be donated to pre-school. It would be very much appreciated as they are used to develop the children's communication, language and literacy skills.

Tracey Cooksley will be leaving us in October to start maternity leave. We wish Tracey and Steve the very best of luck. After 13 years of caring for so many of our children Tracey is such a big part of pre-school and she will be missed by everyone...so come back soon! There is a sweepstake being held at the preschool to guess the weight and sex of the baby! Come along to pre-school...its £1 a guess, with a prize for the winner and the rest of the funds raised will be donated to pre-school. So pop in & have a guess, it's all good fun!

Next on the fundraising calendar is our 'Wine and Wisdom' evening at the Parish Hall on Friday 23rd October at 7:30pm. It's a fun quiz night including a bottle of wine and cheese board per table with teams of up to six. So brush up on your specialist subject or even if you're not so tip top but fancy a night out with friends all are welcome to come along, there will also be a licensed bar.

Get together in your best quiz teams and come along to join in...You may even win! Remember all funds raised go towards our village pre-school. Tickets are available from Sadie Bambury on 01823 681140 or tobambino@hotmail.com don't forget to get your tickets in advance as there is no entry on the door.

The Christmas Bazaar is on 21st November at the Parish Hall, fun for all!
