They have learned about interesting things that happened to George Williams and his dog when they walked around the coast of Great Britain.There was so much to talk about, there will be a return visit as he has was not able to finish. Then Janet Govier came from Wellington to tell members about the Oxfam Shop in the town as well as the History of Oxfam itself.
The Hanging Basket demonstration from David Lucas was interesting and informative.This was followed by Raymond Budd who enchanted everyone with his tales of life as a 'Black and White Minstrel' and how his life led to taking up this position. He still has an excellent voice so a very enjoyable afternoon.
In August, Norman Leighton set members a General Knowledge Quiz. This was keenly fought contest and a tie-breaker was required to find the winners.
In September it was Spence Kingdom's turn to entertain with his talk about his life as a shopkeeper at Coldharbour Stores in Uffculme. In October Bishopswood Belles will entertain after the Annual Meeting and Brian Clist is coming in November to tell members about Hemyock in WW2.
Hemyock Acorns meet in Forbes Lounge on the third Wednesday of each month at 2.45pm. There is a welcome cup of tea and an excellent Raffle and new members and visitors are most welcome. Brenda Calcraft.Secretary.681592
