We start the new term welcoming Samuel Meade and Jazzy Gladwin to pre-school and very pleased to introduce Hemyock residents Denise Wood and Karen Froud to the fabulous staff team! It's a great asset to have such highly qualified and experienced staff and they have settled in so well already.

Last term the children were busy making Christmas decorations, cards, snowmen, Christmas tree baubles and lots more using plenty of glitter! They thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas party, the visit from Father Christmas, his fantastic presents and as always Professor Fumble, the entertainer was a big hit! It was a great finish to the term and a fitting end to preschool for Wilfred Arrowsmith, Phoebe Chilcott, William Counsell, Sam Foster, Robert Machin, Freya Root and Alastair Shaul. No doubt they're having a great time at Primary school!

Christmas was a busy time for fundraising. Thank you to everyone who attended the Christmas Bazaar and Bingo. Although, the weather was awful for the bazaar we appreciate all those who braved the wet conditions to support us and raise money for the pre-school. The Grand Draw was combined with the children singing carols, they did an excellent job. Prizes for the Grand Draw were generously donated by Hemyock Motors, Redwoods Travel, The Merry Harriers, Half Moon Inn, Pecorama, Bicton Park, Butlins, West Somerset and South Devon Railways, Hollywood Bowl, The Fun Farm, Diggerland, Monkton Elm, Willowbrook Nursery, Bolhayes Cider, The Catherine Wheel and Hemyock Spar. We'd like to say a big Thank you to all those who donated to the cause and hope the winners are enjoying their fantastic prizes!

Another great way that the community can support us in fundraising is simply by shopping online! If you visit easyfundraising.org.uk, start off by clicking the red 'Register as a User' button, search for Hemyock Preschool - Cullompton using the drop down list and add your details, once registered you click on any of the retailer links on the site and then shop as you would normally! This will start generating funds for the preschool as the 2000 best-known retailers listed donate up to 15% from every purchase you make, it doesn't cost you any extra and as many retailers now give extra discounts when you buy online, you can even save money! So think of us next time you're booking a holiday, shopping on Amazon, doing your Tesco grocery order or fancy a splurge in Next and please easy fundraise!!

Following the cold snap and the unfortunate snow closure during the first week of term, the children have got back into the swing of things by learning lots of new and exciting topics. They are working on making friends, taking turns, music, movement, rhythm and dance and seeing how we move to different types of music. All of which are important social skills for the little ones. The pre-school would like to ask if anyone has any old, clean sheets for large paint activities and some equal lengths of wood around 6 inches long and 2 inches deep and nails to donate as the staff are hoping to do some woodwork creating activities this term. Please bring the items to Pre-school, Parklands.

The Pre-school AGM will have taken place by the time this is published. A huge Thank you goes to the committee members who have been extremely dedicated and worked so very hard the past year to keep Pre-school up and running, whilst achieving great fundraising figures with great effort put into some fantastic events. As well as looking for new parents to join the committee, the preschool is setting up a  'Pre-school fundraising team'. The group is not just for parents to join but also for other family members and people who have an interest in continuing to organise events that we can all enjoy and that will ultimately raise funds to cover those things that grants don't stretch to. We welcome people from all backgrounds and interests to keep new ideas flowing!

You can add your child's name to our waiting list at any age, even from birth! We will contact you as your child approaches the age of 3 to enrol in the Pre-school and claim funded hours of learning through play.  Please contact Sarah Kenny on 01823 680726 for an information leaflet, informal visit or to add your child's name to the waiting list or to register interest for the Pre-school Fundraising Team. We'd love to welcome you aboard!
