During April and May we enjoyed four dance workshops with Jo Elworthy, Jo taught us some moves for a line dance, the Salsa, some popular disco dances and the Charleston. As always Jo made the sessions informal and fun, the sessions were well attended and we were joined by some new faces including a few brave men!! The dance sessions culminated in a social evening with a dance theme, this was a good evening and gave us the opportunity to try some of the dances we had been learning.
Because of the success of the dance sessions we will run something similar next year during April/May, so if you fancy joining in keep a look out in the pump for actual dates. We are also running two weeks of workshops at the end of May; these will be closely linked to our next show, and will cover, stagecraft and voice projection and a read through of the script.
We have everything in place for our next autumn production which is "Dracula the Pantomime" The show is very light-hearted and is suitable for families, the star of the show is Buffy the vampire slayer, usually a favourite with young people, there are also the old favourites such as Dame Plasma Van Helsing and the Andrex sisters!! The chorus numbers include the "Lambeth Walk" from (Me and my Girl) and "All in this together" from (High School Musical).
Janet and Jo Elworthy have kindly agreed to produce and choreograph the show again; they have already been creative with ideas for sets, costumes, dances and songs. Show Meetings will start on 3rd of June 7.30pm in the Corn hill room of the Catherine Wheel. If you are interested in being involved in any way on or off stage, just turn up and see what it is all about- it really is fun!
On Sunday 27th June we are holding a Car Treasure Hunt; the last clue will lead you to a BBQ at Alice's, provided you don't get lost..... There is also a trip to Sheppy's Cider booked for thurs 15th July, the cost is £16 per person, this includes a tour of the Cider factory, a trip round the orchards on a trailer (weather permitting) a ploughman's supper, apple pie and cream and Cider tasting, if you would like any information on joining Valley-Arts or on forthcoming events just, email firstname.lastname@example.org. And we will respond promptly.
