What a busy couple of months it has been for Culm Valley YFC! The new year began with the East Devon Pantomime competition held at Exmouth where we came 3rd place! A massive thank you goes to Mark Davis and Judith Trevelyan for their work directing it and to Alan Quick and Hazel Davis for their help with the scenery. Well done to Emily Vallis and Jess Maynard who jointly won the best actress award as well as Katie Trevelyan who was nominated and to James Westcott, Olly Reed and Courtney Goodare who were nominated for the best actor award. Following on from this we held a re-run of the Panto for Charity with Cruwys Morchard YFC in Tiverton High School where we raised over £1800 in aid of the Exeter Leukaemia Fund, MIND and the new Devon YFC Centre.

We had six members attend the Devon YFC Ski Trip – they all had a good week and luckily everyone returned in one piece! Next up we had the Member of the Year competition with Mark Snell and Maggie Palmer taking part for the Seniors and Emily Emmett and Emily Davis taking part for the Juniors. Well done to Emily Emmett who was placed 2nd!
We’ve also began the Public Speaking competitions with Georgina Pengelly, Emily Davis and Rachel Stevens winning the County final of Junior Reading. Michelle Batting and Aaron Debathe also took part in the County Situations Vacant competition, Michelle came 1st with Aaron in 2nd place. A big good luck to Michelle and the Junior Reading team who will now go through and compete in the South West Area round.
The sporting competitions have also been very successful with James Westcott, Adam Howe, Mark Snell, Connor Pengelly and Steve Reed coming 3rd in the County round of 5 aside Football. We have also had Bowling, Dodgeball, Skittles, Pool and Darts as well as Cross Country where Olly Reed came 1st, Stuart Persey came 2nd and Courtney Goodare came 4th.
