Messy Play at Hemyock Pre-School
Pre-School News - April 09
The rain and wind gave way to snow and it was a delight to see the glow on young faces as Hemyock turned white for a few days. For some it was a completely new experience and gave true meaning to all the pictures pre-schoolers had seen in storybooks and on the television.Whilst the snow may have closed the doors at Pre-school for a day or two, it didn't stop the children eagerly learning about 'experiments'. We take so many things for granted as we get older and it's rewarding to see the astonishment on young faces when they pick up a magnet, or discover what happens when two or more coloured paints are mixed together. Pre-School News - February 09
Unsurprisingly, winter has been a popular theme at pre-school, with brightly coloured snowmen and other chilly themes adorning the walls. The children have also been having fun learning numbers through rhymes and stories. Old or young, we all have a favourite story and the children have been sharing their own favourites with their classmates. As Chinese New Year approaches, the children will celebrate by tasting different food and dressing up in costume.
News From Hemyock Pre-School
The new children have settled in brilliantly and in November we welcomed Poppie Bright and Andrew Pyne. The children have been busy during autumn and during Guy Fawkes week they made rockets and painted colourful fireworks. Teddy Bears were our guests forTeddy Bear week and we could not let the week pass without, of course, a Teddy Bear Picnic. The occasion was additionally special as Hemyock School Reception class came too! Dressing up is always great fun for pre-schoolers and the children did us proud on Children In Need day. The staff made a terrific effort too and ensured lots of fun was had by all. Pre School - October 2008
After our very wet summer, we're back in full swing and say a very warm welcome to our new pre-schoolers: Imogen Bowey, Angus Loughrey, Robert Machin, Annabelle Millar, Zachary Rolfe and Freya Root. We miss those who left us last term but hope they are enjoying their first term of school. Good luck to Sam Arrowsmith, Adam Cole, Ruby Downing-Martin, Jessica Hayman, Niamh Higgins, Nathan Hodges, William Machin, Anne Marie Pyne, Elizabeth Shaul, Ben Simpson, Molly Upton and Edward Waugh.
Hemyock Pre-School News
Pre-school children have been busy busy busy over the last couple of months: The arrival of a Fire Engine plus four firemen caused much excitement, and that wasn't just amongst the children! No fires I hasten to qualify; the visit was purely educational and the children toured the engine and used the hoses.
Pre School - June 2008
Sun cream and hats have made a debut for the children as they start to enjoy the warmer months. The outdoor play area is a huge hit and the large outdoor blackboard and beautifully painted 'Erin's House' are both very popular activities. Themes for this term have included our planet, what things are made of, recycling, eating healthily and looking after the environment. By the time you read this, the children will have been visited by some donkeys from the Donkey Sanctuary.
Pre School - April 2008
Spring seems to have arrived in a rather blustery way, but the children are enjoying playing outside when the weather is favourable. Our open day was a success, with new parents having the opportunity to look around the Pre School and ask the staff questions. We hope to make this a regular event, so please remember to tell your friends! Hemyock Pre-School Open Afternoon
