between Cordwents and Shepherds Halt, Clayhidon. 

Update 24th March: A very relieved Helen rang on Sunday to say Bodie had re-appeared that morning covered in mud and very thin. 

Probably been down a hole. 

Once again the Upper Culm Valley have responded brilliantly to an appeal - this time for writing equipment for refugee children in Syria. Around 2,000 individual items have been received along with over £60.

To the 5,000 children being taught in groups of 100 and have no equipment and staff teaching in a building made of breeze blocks and covered in in tarpaulin, this will make a huge difference to their lives

An urgent appeal has been launched to supply new pencils and small packets of pencil crayons for a  school in Syria where teachers are trying to educate around 5000 refugee children in shifts of 100. The school is built of breeze blocks covered with a tarpaulin and there is no equipment at all.

The appeal has been launched by the wife of the Bishop of Stepney, who has visited the area, and it is hoped a parcel will be sent to her from the Upper Culm Valley. week beginning 18th February.

Following on from the Everyone Welcome course organised by the Rev David Burton during the Autumn a meeting is to be held at the Church Room tomorrow, Thursday  31st January, at 7.30pm.

It will be of particular interest to all Church Council members, Sidespeople and folk who would wish to have a contribution to the ministry of welcome in the  Upper Culm Valley Mission Community  churches of Hemyock with Culm Davy, Clayhidon and Culmstock.

Entrepreneurs from Devon and Somerset are being given new opportunities to boost profits and create jobs with game-changing grants of over £10,000 each, the Heart of the South West (HotSW) Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) announced today.

Sunday 30th December will see a joint Benefice Service of Holy Communion held at Culm Davy Chapel at 10.30a.m.

This will be the only service within the parish churches of Hemyock. Clayhidon and Culmstock on that day..

Organised by the Friends of St Mary's the parish church has been decorated with over 20 Christmas trees by local organisations and is a glorious sight.  Tinsel, baubles, lights, stars, seed packets, PO boxes, poppies , beer mats, and knitted goods  along with colours of gold, silver and red are amongst the objects used to bring the festival alive. The festival opens at 10,30a.m.on Friday and Saturday and 12.30 on Sunday

Refreshments including light lunches are being served in the Church Room which has also been seasonally decorated

The St David's Singers will be giving a concert in the church at 7.30p. on Saturday - tickets on the door to include mulled wine and mince pies: and a service of Holy Commumion will take place at 11.15a.m. on Sunday 

Everyone is welcomed to the village CHRISTINGLE service to be held at 4p.m. at St Mary's Church  today - Sunday 9th Dec.

This is a short service and families - even those with the youngest of children - are especially welcome..
