Firefighters spent most of Tuesday at a timber company in Hemyock following a fire in the early morning.

A single storey workshop used to maintain forklift trucks was completely destroyed in the blaze at Brookridge Timber at about 6am.

But fire crews remained on the premises throughout the day because there were a number of propane and acetylene cylinders on site.

Business continued as usual despite the fire.
