It appears that the Post Office in Hemyock has been saved from closure during the recent nationwide review. “Centred in the heart of the Blackdown Hills, the Post Office is a hive of activity and provides an important social as well as commercial centre for its citizens” said Heather Stallard Chairman of Hemyock Parish Council. Pensioner Joan Austin, who has mobility difficulties, was delighted to hear the news. “The Post Office and its shop, the Church and the pub are at the heart of every village and must be retained” she said. “The Post Office is a lifeline to us pensioners” said Joan.
