Hard pressed families in the Hemyock area who are finding the cost of fruit and vegetables high and the size of their gardens too small to be productive may welcome the discussions at a forthcoming Parish Council meeting (Wednesday 6th August). Councillors will consider how local land which it owns could be made available for turning into Allotments. They will also discuss talking to people who have sizeable and unused plots who might consider working in cooperation with others to make the land productive on a shared basis. Leader of the Parish Council Heather Stallard said “our role is to hear and understand the current needs of parishioners and the financial climate makes this discussion a real ‘must’. Chairman of
Hemyock Gardeners Association Tim Hannaford welcomed the move as forward thinking and said that “his members may well want to partner in the project.”
