After a short history of making pickles and chutneys from produce grown on the farm, members enjoyed guessing the many ingredients used in chutneys from Rumwell Farm shop for their April meeting.
In May David Pugsley recounted the notorious murder at Clayhidon. It was interesting to hear the events that led to the murder as well as the details of the court case and verdict. At the May meeting members voted for better labelling of 'country of origin' this would be taken to the National AGM in Cardiff.
During the late summer and autumn Hemyock will be contributing to an exhibition at Coldharbour Mill, depicting the WI.
A friendly skittles match was played with the Bishopswood Ladies at the Catherine Wheel.
The April reading group was held at attended at Karen's, Eragon transported readers through mystical adventures with dragons and elves it was thoroughly enjoyed by readers, even though not a subject usually chosen to read. Man and Boy promises to be a touching insight into Father and Son relationships.
A trip to Torquay to see the London production of Calendar Girls in Torquay is arranged and a varied programme of speakers and activities are planned.
The next meetings are on 1st June with a talk on 'The Birds of the River Exe' and 6th July the subject being 'The Honey Bee'. The meetings are held in Forbes Lounge on the first Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm, visitors are very welcome.
