First win of the season
On a glorious Saturday morning and the pitches at Longmead looking great Hemyock recorded their first win of the season. The match started with both team’s defence being very solid and both keepers not having much to do. In midfield new signing Louie Allan and old hand Ashley Jaji were forming a formidable partnership. The speed of Henry Fawcett and his younger brother Archie were beginning to cause problems for the Budleigh defence and it was no surprise when Ashley Jaji hit one of the hardest shots seen at Hemyock for a long time giving the keeper no chance. So at halftime it was 1-0 to Hemyock.
Second half saw Budeligh dominate and it took a couple of smart saves from Mike Ellacott to keep the score 1-0. In the end a long ball over the top caught out Ashley Venn and Josh Allen and the Budleigh forward equalised with a great shot into the top of the net. In the past the old Hemyock would have given up and probably lost this match but with Ashley Jaji all over the place and Archie making some great runs Hemyock managed to score the winning goal. A great run from Ashley led to a shot which the keeper did well to get a hand on but it looped just over the line before the defender kicked it away. The last 10 minutes were very frantic with Budeligh nearly scoring with the last kick of the game.
So it was very happy Hemyock at the end.
