Fred Bear was delighted to attend the monthly Family Service at St Mary's Church with his friend Rev John Stone.
Fred took great delight in meeting his many relatives and other cuddly friends who had brought along their humans to enjoy the day. One of Fred's oldest and smallest relatives had journeyed from Australia in 1943 and this was the first time they had met so they had a lot to growl about.
The Churchwardens, David Bawler and Jenny Doble, presented the recently refurbished Wardens staves for blessing at the start of the service.
During the short service birthday greetings were sung to all those who will be celebrating this month and was especially appreciated by a member of the congregation who birthday it was on the day.
As the service ended and the bears and their human families prepared to celebrate with a picnic lunch the melodic notes of 'A Teddy Bears Picnic' was played by Ron White. Unfortunately with the sky overcast rain started to fall so rugs, tables and chairs were quickly arranged around the inside of the church and all, from a baby of a few months to members of the congregation in their nineties, enjoyed a time of fellowship together.
On 26th June 'Jonah and the Whale' is to be presented as part of the worship at Culm Davy Chapel with the service starting at 3.30pm. Everyone is invited to attended this beautiful Chapel nestling in the hills especially children who will have the chance to take part!
