Hemyock 6 Okehampton 1

On a perfect Saturday morning for football Hemyock finally played to their full potential, if only for one half of the match but showed what they could do if they turned up with this attitude every week. Against Okehampton, who had hammered Hemyock in the away match 8-1, they knew they had to close down their players quickly and not allow them to play the attractive game they had played at Okehampton. With Nick Crossing and Morgan Leyton available Hemyock did this and more. The first goal came from a great ball from Morgan that landed at James Churchill feet who dispatched it into the bottom corner. This was soon followed by another great finish by Ashley Jaji who added to his growing list of goals. The third was probably the pick of the goals with Nickey Pratt finally hitting the back of the net with a great shot that went into the top corner of the goal. Ashley added another soon after for his second and then to finish the half Morgan hit a screamer from the edge of the box to make the half-time score 5-0.

The coach has never had an easier half-time talk with the only problem being that Hemyock should have scored more. The second half was not as good with both teams only having the bare 11 the boys soon got tired. Hemyock should have scored more but for some great goalkeeping from the Oke goalie. Hemyock did score one more in the second half with Captain Mike Ellacott scoring from long range. Okehampton did get on the score sheet after a mix up between the Hemyock defence and should have another from a penalty but they struck the cross-bar.
So final score was 6-1 with MOM being Morgan Leyton but all the Hemyock players played really well. Mention to Okehampton who never gave up.
