Hemyock 2 Honiton 1
On a pitch that was wet to start with and getting even wetter with the heavy showers this was not a game for the purist. With Hemyock winning their last 2 games the boys were very confident against a Honiton side who were much taller then their Hemyock opposition. Hemyock started very well with their passing game improving again but they were not getting many shots in on the Honiton goal. Honiton were always looking for the long pass to their big midfield, who was doing some excellent flicks on to the forwards to run onto. Joe Palmer and Ashley Venn are proving a great partnership in the middle of the Hemyock defence and it took a mistake from Josh Allen in the Hemyock goal to allow Honiton to take the lead. Fortunately for Hemyock they were soon on equal terms when a cross from Louie Allan allowed Ashley Jaji to run on and flick a great header into the top corner. So half time score was 1-1. The second half was very difficult with the Hemyock pitch getting worse and not much good football being played. Hemyock winner came from a corner that was not properly cleared and falling to Nick Crossing on the edge of the box who hit a screamer from the edge of the box. Honiton pushed on in the last 20 minutes and it took some great saves from Josh Allen to keep the final score 2-1. Man of the match was Joe Palmer for his great tackling and non-stop running.
