NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN 

That a vacancy exists in the office of councillor for the above Parish Council. 

If within 14 working days of the date of this notice a request for an election to fill said vacancy is made in writing to the Returning Officer at the address below by TEN electors for the area, an election will be held to fill the vacancy, otherwise the vacancy will be filled by co-option.

Mr Tim Barton is reviewing the Emergency Plan on behalf of the parish council.  Much of the review has been completed and Mr Barton hopes to issue a draft plan to the parish council very soon.

The Hemyock Litter Pickers are looking for new volunteers to help keep a stretch of Hemyock road tidy; the more we have, the shorter the area!  Find out who your Chief Womble is and volunteer.

The Police have issued a report on recent crimes in the area, and request we keep sheds locked as they mostly concerned theft of power tools.

The Parish Council are promoting a scheme called Community Speed Watch, where trained local volunteers help police officers and PCSOs man speed guns to drive down local speeds.

New Footpath at Burleyhayes

Devon County Council are reviewing the footpaths in the area, and propose to make the existing route up from Burleyhayes to the Beacon a public right of way instead of a track.  We are seeking people who have walked this route for the last 20 years. If so, please contact Lance Povah or the Clerk at the addresses given.

Superfast broadband for Hemyock?

A campaign is about to start, on the 6th February to canvass opinion on superfast broadband for this area.  In order to be eligible we need to demonstrate lots of support.  Please read the attached letter (pages one and two) from Devon CC and Somerset CC and respond.  There is a website at www.connectingdevonandsomerset.co.uk to register your interest. Generally dry for much of the night, but turning increasingly windy through the early hours. Some rain may reach the north and west of the region by the end of the night and it will remain mild for all areas. Minimum Temperature 8 °C.

Wednesday:

Wet and windy with a spell of heavy and squally rain crossing all parts. This will clear through the afternoon, with sunny spells and scattered showers following. Turning cooler later. Maximum Temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Becoming colder, with sunshine and showers on Thursday. A frosty start on Friday, but drier with sunny spells. Milder again on Saturday with some rain.
