The Garages, Millhayes, Youth Centre

The history of the project up to July 2009 is here. We don't need that any more. After years of dedicated background work by the Parish Council, we can now move forwards.

We now have quite a major project to do. We have to convert the old buildings into a safe and functional centre with the right facilities, we have to raise a load of money, and we have to set up the organisation to decide what it should be used for and run the Youth Centre.

Converting the buildings
We have had an architect, Clive Jones draw up some plans in collaboration with the HELP group, which have been approved for Planning. With the help of local resident Ric Auger, we are in the process (July 2009) of developing a submission to Building Regs for approvals, which should take about 6-8 weeks. While that is going on, we can start applying for grants to help with the money.

Raising the money
As part of the BHLC application for money for their Healthy Living Centre, we have been awarded nearly 100,000.. To be continued

Youth nights at The Garages continue to be well supported with Tuesday evenings being very popular.  We have room for many more youngsters so if you know any send them along.  Tuesday evenings are for years 7 and 8 and run from 6.30 til 8pm and Friday evenings are for years 9, 10 and 11 and run from 6.30 til 9pm. 

We are holding ourt first fund raiser of 2015 on Saturday April 11th.  This will be a table top sale and tables are only £5.00 each.  You need to bring your own table and refreshments will be available.  Sellers from 1pm and buyers from 2 til 4pm.  Please support the youth of the village and come along to sell or to buy or just to have a coffee and a piece of cake.  To book your space please ring Lynn Taylor on 01823 680104.

The region will stay dry all day, with sunny spells. It will become breezy in the far west later, especially on the coast. However, the wind will come from the south so it will feel warmer than recently. Maximum Temperature 15 °C.

The coming night will be dry, mild and breezy without frost or fog. It will be windy on coasts and hills. Rain will arrive in Cornwall and Devon around dawn. Minimum Temperature 10 °C.

Sunday:

Tomorrow will become windier with rain gradually spreading eastwards during the day, reaching Gloucestershire by late afternoon. The rain will clear in the west later, letting some late sunshine through. Maximum Temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

The bank holiday will probably start very wet, but it will dry up from the west allowing some sunshine later. Tuesday and Wednesday will be drier and warmer.
