The Hemyock ringers are having an anniversary year! With two members celebrating Golden Weddings earlier in the year, they now have a Silver Wedding Anniversary to ring for. The happy couple this time are Jean and Gerry King and we send them all best wishes.
We were also delighted to ring to mark Malcolm Beal's 50th anniversary of his ordination, and also to be asked to provide background sounds for the "Village of the year" inspection.
The Ringers have been asked to ring by the Parish before. In the 18th century they were asked to ring to remind the populace each year of the saving of the monarchy by the foiling of the Gunpowder plot. They were paid 14shillings worth of meat each year, although later this was altered to 20 shillings in cash.
