Customers at the Spar store in Hemyock helped to raise £550 for a Taunton hospice following a prize draw. Christine Stepney, owner of the store in Hemyock, handed over the first prize of a bicycle to customer Stephen Findlay following the draw in aid of St Margaret's Somerset Hospice in Taunton.
Stephen, from nearby Clayhidon, was the main prizewinner among others who won gifts including a hamper, flowers, and fruit basket donated by local suppliers.
Christine said: "We charged £1 a ticket and I would like to thank all my customers who helped us raise a superb total of £550 to support the new-build appeal for the hospice." Christine is celebrating 21 years of running her village store.
