Despite overcast skies and another event being held in the village the annual Summer Fete organised by St Mary’s Parish Church was a great success raising over £1,800.
Held in the Recreation Field, the Fete attracted a number of outside stall holders including Guide Dogs for the Blind, British Institute for Brain Injured Children, Vranch House and the Devon Air Ambulance and a number of village organisations.
Music was provided by Apple AM (Taunton Hospital Radio) who also conducted interviews throughout the day. Cream teas, barbecue and a beer tent ensured there were refreshments for all tastes whilst visitors could enjoy Naming the Teddy, skittles, Guessing the combined weight of the Churchwardens and trying to beat the Human Fruit Machine whilst children had terrific fun on a bouncy castle
The main prize in the raffle, a holiday donated by Redwoods Travel was won by Stuart Rowe with the lucky programme winner Daphne Symes receiving a hamper donated by Spar Hemyock.
