Millhayes Hall was previously the Social Club of the St Ivel works in Hemyock. It, together with the vehicle garages, is all that is left of the factory which used to produce Utterly Butterly. Whilst the garages are set to become a Youth Centre, Millhayes Hall requires a further survey and site inspections to gain change of use status to become a Healthy Living Centre because of its location on a Flood Plain. Mid Devon District Council have requested an FRA (flood risk assessment) report, despite the fact that the Hall was specially constructed on ‘stilts’ because of its close proximity to the Culm River. “This costly work is holding up progress” said Jonathan Meads who chairs the Healthy Living centre project.
