January saw Hemyock WI celebrating their birthday with a pie night at the Half Moon, Clayhidon a very enjoyable evening.
In February members were treated to Nicola Werner demonstrating and helping members to paint a pottery tile, the tiles painted by members were imaginative and individual and will be fired and returned. The competition was 'Bring a piece of pottery' and was won by Karen Pinder, Brenda Calcraft won the draw who also won flower of the month with a lovely hellebore. We travelled to Westpoint, Exeter in February to be entranced by the ice show 'Holiday on Ice' Mystery a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
In March members Elaine Moralee and Julie Bailey transported us to sunnier climes showing us slides of their trips to New Zealand and South Africa respectively, which was welcome after the heavy snow and cold weather recently.
A Friendly skittles match had been arranged with ladies from around Corfe and a pleasant evening was had by all.
The Group meeting competition is 'Tea tray for two' and it was decided that Hemyock would enter.
The chocolate morning was a success on 14th March with Tombola, Chocolate fountain, draw and, of course, a cake stall.
Members will enjoy outings in 2009 to Hello Dolly and Cothay Manor, speakers include, talks on Fair Trade, a visit from Quickes Cheeses, and a Treasure Hunt is planned for June followed by a fish and chips supper
The next meeting is on 7th April and will be a cookery demonstration, the competition is to bring an unusual cooking object. The May meeting is on the 7th which is the WI Resolution meeting. The meetings are held in Forbes Lounge on the first Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm, visitors are very welcome.
