Archived Stories About 6 years ago we welcomed the first ringing bride to the ringing room. Tower captain Lin Holway and her daughter, Emily, rang together before Emily's wedding. Now we have had the first ringing bridegroom. Our latest learner Tim Barton only started to ring last autumn, and we were delighted that he had progressed enough to be able to ring for his daughters, Lydia's wedding. So before he dashed back to bring the bride to church. Tim was ringing with soon-to-be son-in-law David Leighton, in what was a very happy ringing room. The mood of the day had started earlier when we were delighted to ring a quarterpeal to mark Mary and Malcolm's Golden Wedding anniversary. It was a joy to have them join us at the end of the ringing. Just to round the day off we rang to welcome the trinity singers for the FOSM concert.

The week before we'd had no verger to tell us the bride had arrived, as our verger had changed roles to that of father of the bride! The ringers best wishes to all three couples.

After Easter we are planning to have another series of training sessions. Ringing in its current form goes back to the late 15th early 16th Century. So if you'd like to know what's involved in this ancient form of service to the church, then please contact the tower captain on 681 522.
