Our summer mixed league has started again with both teams doing well after two rounds. If you'd like to take part contact Rachel: rachel_bussell@hotmail.com Matches are played in the evening and are usually mid-week. "Mini-tennis" (small racquets and soft balls) is being run in conjunction with the Primary School for 5-9 yr olds after school this term. It's a good introduction to the sport. Contact our club coach dannyloftus@hotmail.co.uk
We have changed the padlock on both gates now, so members should have the NEW KEY. Any members who do not have one will be given one on payment of subs and the return of the old key. (Subscriptions are: Seniors £62, Couple - £93, additional Senior in the household - £31, Juniors - £10, due April 1)
Club sessions will continue as usual - Seniors: Thurs, 6.30 pm, and Sat. 10.30am, and Sun. 10.30am for stronger players.
Provided there is enough demand, there will be junior (over 11) sessions on Weds 6-8pm. There will be a small charge for the junior sessions, which will be run by Dan this year and he will be available to give coaching advice if needed.
Our final total for the "Tennis MARATHON" for Sports Relief back in April was £600! Congratulations to all those who participated. Our Open Evening in May was also a great success, with lots of people trying out new rackets (supplied by Tony Pryce Sports) and the club's new ball machine.
We will be running our 'champagne and strawberries' social tennis afternoon again this year on the 1st Sunday after Wimbledon (11th July) with entrants being paired up to play an American Tournament. We have held this event for several years now and it has proved a very enjoyable afternoon of relaxed tennis - so come along. Entries need to be in by 7th July.
For the first time this year, we are running a knock-out singles tournament and also taking part in the "Longmead Sports and Fun Day" on the 22nd August. The Singles Tournament Final will be played on that day (so some good quality tennis to watch) and we will also be running some events for the less serious players.
