Hemyock

The Chairman of Hemyock Parish Council, Mrs Heather Stallard will Chair a meeting in the village hall (Forbes Lounge) at 11am on Saturday 10 September 2011 to initiate plans for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012 and all club members/parishoners are invited to attend.

The Diamond Jubilee weekend will be held from 2nd to 5th June 2012, with the 4th and 5th being two special Bank Holidays. A number of events have already been scheduled within the County and across the UK and Hemyock now needs to make its own plans for a memorable and enjoyable day. A particular emphasis will be placed on the community and ensuring all ages are involved in the celebrations.

A number of events have been suggested and so far include: Jubilee street party, fete to coincide with Church fete with local dignatory to open, concert on the rec, firework display, concert in St Mary's church, special church service, sponsored run/walk, bowls competition, twinning event, flower show, commission a historic map of the parish, plant trees/avenue etc. Whatever we do will be a great opportunity for the village so please be prepared as a group to put forward ideas and nominate people to take them forward.
