There have been a number of reported fly tipping incidents in the Hemyock area over the past quarter and include the dumping of a freezer, 25 sheets of asbestos, leylandi tree branches and 5 cwt of cat litter!
Dealing with illegal dumping of fly tipped waste is not only illegal but it can be unsightly and dangerous. It is an offence for any person to leave refuse or litter in areas unlawfully and offenders will be liable to prosecution. If you should see any fly tipping occurring or notice any fly tipped refuse please contact Mid Devon District Council Customer First on tel: 01884 255255 or email: customerfirst@middevon.gov.uk.
For very large quantities of fly tipped waste or incidents which might threaten to pollute a water course, the Environment Agency can investigate fly tipping - their hotline number is 0800 807060. If you require further information on this subject view the Hemyock Council Website (www.hemyock.org) or contact the Chairman/Parish Clerk (clerk@hemyock.org).
