Are you looking for something to do on a Monday evening? Want to blow away the winter blues and tune up those vocal chords?
Hemyock Singers have just begun rehearsals for their concert to be performed at St Mary's Church on Thursday 5th April.
'Requiem' by Bob Chilcott is the work chosen and is a beautiful modern setting to well loved words.
Hemyock Singers meet at the Baptist Chapel at 7.30pm for around 2 hours and new members are always welcome. Why not come along one evening and meet us, we're a friendly bunch of folk.

It was with great sadness that Hemyock Singers heard of the death of Norman Leighton just before the Pump went to press. Norman was a fine musician specialising in the violin. Prior to moving to Hemyock he had been invoved with numerous chiors and orchestras. As a past Musical Director of Singers his wisdom, knowledge and dry wit lightened many a rehearsal. We send our love and deepest condolences to his wife Alice.

The group have enjoyed singing a variety of music over the past months from Gilbert and Sullivan to Jingle Bells via Winter Wonderland and Mistletoe and Wine as we've rehearsed for our two autumn concerts.
The G & S evening with supper welcomed Tony Grosse, Glyn Jones and Jenny Doble as our main soloist and proved to be popular as almost 100 tickets were sold.

It was reported at the annual meeting of Hemyock Singers that the amicable split within the group during 2008 had seen little effect on the Society.
The group had enjoyed a successful coffee morning, a choral concert and supper shows. Janice Bawler, chairman, paid tribute to the work of musical director Ron White and pianist Nigel Atkinson which brought warm applause from the meeting and thanked the committee giving special mention to Monica Smith, secretary and Jeremy Batchelor, treasurer.
