The Garages, Millhayes, Youth Centre

The history of the project up to July 2009 is here.  We don't need that any more.  After years of dedicated background work by the Parish Council, we can now move forwards.

We now have quite a major project to do.  We have to convert the old buildings into a safe and functional centre with the right facilities, we have to raise a load of money, and we have to set up the organisation to decide what it should be used for and run the Youth Centre.

Converting the buildings
We have had an architect, Clive Jones draw up some plans in collaboration with the HELP group, which have been approved for Planning.  With the help of local resident Ric Auger, we are in the process (July 2009) of developing a submission to Building Regs for approvals, which should take about 6-8 weeks.  While that is going on, we can start applying for grants to help with the money.

Raising the money
As part of the BHLC application for money for their Healthy Living Centre, we have been awarded nearly £100,000..  To be continued

Youth Council for Hemyock

Garages Youth CentreA meeting which is hoped will be the pre-curser for the setting up of a Youth Council for Hemyock is to be held next Monday 6th July at the Garages of the old St Ivel factory.  The Parish Council have plans to turn the Garages into a Youth Centre and need young people to feed in their ideas on the running of the project.  Young people are invited to attend the meeting which begins at 7.30pm.
