HEMYOCK PARISH PLAN

Hemyock Parish Councillors were elected in May for a four year term; they are now looking to decide how best to use this time for the benefit of the Parish and Parishioners.  One important thread in this will be to develop an updated Parish Plan.  It is vital that the group working on this includes people outside the Council, so please let us know if you are able to help in any way.

Previous surveys and plans were made in 1998-2001 and 2008-9, as a result of which the Council has been able to support or achieve your wishes:

You wanted more facilities for young people; the Garages project is now thriving and includes fitness activities for all ages.

You wanted a new floodbridge; this was built and is widely used as the main pedestrian route across the flood plain.

You supported the development of Longmead playing field; this has adult and youth football and tennis clubs, the MUGA, walking and environmental areas and a well-equipped play area.

You wanted the village to be safer for all road users; the Parish Council got the 20mph speed limit and is looking at new measures to improve road safety.

You said that, if there was to be new housing, you would like it to be for local or young people; the Parish Council has supported the development of Griffin Close.

You were willing to help with litter picking and monitoring footpaths: the Council is most grateful to all who contribute to the well-being of the parish.

As Government funding for the District and County Councils is reduced, services inevitably decline; your Council is determined that Hemyock will not be neglected.

Initial meetings to kick start the update of the Parish Plan have been arranged as follows:-

  • Access, Traffic & Community Transport - Wednesday 14th October at 7.30pm in the Parish Hall
  • Environment, Leisure and Recreation - Wednesday 21st October at 7.30pm in the Forbes Lounge, Parish Hall.

Please come along and help us plan for the future of Hemyock.
