It is for you and everyone else in the Cullompton Deanery Bishop Bob will give some short and inspiring talks. Canon Mark Rylands, Diocesan Missioner will chair. Andrew Maries will lead the music.
On Wednesday December 5, members of St Mary’s Guild met for their monthly meeting in the Church Rooms.
Frugal lunches of home made soups, bread & cheese will take place on Wednesdays during Lent in the Church Rooms. Starting Ash Wednesday 6th February, from 12 noon. All are welcome.
On behalf of the Friends of St Mary's Church a big thank you to everybody who supported the Festival of Trees in Advent. In spite of the very cold weather the attendance was very good over the three days and people were able to still enjoy the spectacle over the Festive Season as the trees remained in place until 2 January.
Christmas is over and a New Year begins, A New Year full of opportunity and expectation which has been rather blunted by various bodies warning of an impending credit squeeze and a fall in the economy. All of us face rising energy charges, from fuel for our cars to the electricity that powers our homes. In addition, there are the hidden charges that will be added to the price of goods in our shops and will eventually find their way into our wallets and purses.
Christmas has gone and now we are in a new year, hope you all enjoyed yourselves. We are now settling into the new Executive Structure at MDDC from last Nov, it will take time to settle down, we are all on a learning curve. The main difference is that Officers make the recommendations and the Executive make the decisions, in the place of committees. There are four Policy Groups who put MDDC's policies together and a Scrutiny Group who oversees everything, every Member is involved with the running of the Council in one way or another. But primary each Member is responsible in seeing that everyone in his Ward is being represented. If there is something that you want me to do for you, don`t hesitate to contact me for any help, that is what you elected me for.

The Friends of St Mary's led by Jane Attlee, the Festival Co-ordinator, were delighted to welcome visitors to a Festival of Trees in Advent between December 15 - 17.
Trees will be on view during the Christmas period. |
A recent football match was halted by the referee until dog mess was removed from the pitch.
A Hemyock man has received a national award at the House of Commons in recognition of his role in the UK poultry industry.
The recent rains caused the River Culm to rise to levels not seen for 15 years, according to local residents. Both the Culmbridge Road and Station Road were flooded enough to make driving them a risky business. The water at Whitehall was level with the humps of the two small bridges there. Unsettled with further spells of heavy rain and strong winds.
