Archived Stories Whilst for most of us the Christmas period is a time for joyful celebration with family and friends there have been those saddened by the loss of a loved one. We send love and condolences to the families of Pat Salter, Charles Gilchrist-Fisher, Cyril Vaughan, Peter Cruwys, Margaret Elworthy and Lilian Fenson and all who have been saddened over past weeks.

Archived Stories The first 2008 meeting of Hemyock WI took the form of a celebratory meal at the Half Moon on the occasion of their fourth Birthday. It was disappointing that Daphne, Margaret and Angela were unable to be there due to illness but all who were present agreed it was a lovely evening.

Archived Stories The next meeting of the Hemyock History Group is set for Thursday 14th February. Regular meetings will be arranged on the second Thursday of the month. This meeting will be jointly given by Brian Clist and Chris Dracott and will be on lists. Lists of Hemyock folk over the centuries including Muster Rolls, Protestation and Land Tax returns and a number of other historical 'lists of people.'

The Royal Marines Association Gibraltar Club of Mid Devon has been the central collection and distribution centre for this operation and we would like you to know how things are going.

Archived Stories Many of us were delighted to be able to join in the carol singing organised by the Friends of St Mary's for the Festival of Trees in Advent. Accompanied on accordion by our Musical Director, Ron White, numerous well loved carols were sung before the group walked to the church when more singing took place before we were all able to enjoy the refreshments arranged by the Friends.

Archived Stories Looking back to the beginning of the August saw a very wet and muddy Honiton Show, which many of our members participated at. We had members showing stock, crafts, cookery and our boys pulled Tug-Of-War and even though they didn't take top place, they still managed to appear on Spotlight the same evening on BBC One!
