A sell-out lunch organised by local volunteers raised £334.18 for The Royal British Legion 2012 Poppy Appeal. 41 local people (including two take-aways!) tucked in to a 3-course lunch at The Blackdown Healthy Living Centre, on Sunday 11 November. Over £320 worth of raffle prizes were donated by generous local businesses.

A unique history event took place in Hemyock on 13th and 14th November at the Primary School with archaeologists from Exeter displaying a large amount of the medieval pottery recently found at the Churchills Farm building site for Hemyock people to handle and discuss with the archaeologists.

Singer Joss Stone is supporting a campaign to find three valuable bulldog puppies which were stolen in a raid at her breeder friend's Hemyock home. Dog-nappers stole the puppies, which were worth several thousand pounds, after breaking into owner Jackie van Meeuwen's home while she was asleep upstairs.
