BLACKWATER ROAD CLOSURE.
The Parish Council has just heard that this closure could be in place for weeks or even months due to the build up of work at Devon Highways.

MDDC is reviewing its Local Plan for the district to cover the period 2013 to 2033. Options for planning strategy and potential development sites have been drawn up and published for consultation.
A ‘call for sites’ was carried out by MDDC in 2013, inviting landowners to suggest sites that might have potential for development. These sites have been assessed and all those considered technically achievable are included in the Local Plan Review. The options sites far exceed the amount of development that is likely to be allocated in the final version of the Local Plan and over the coming months MDDC will need to decide which overall strategy and which sites are most appropriate.
The Garages Sports and Activity Centre has finally opened its doors to the Youth of Hemyock. After a lot of hard work by a lot of people and some generous donations and successful grant applications the building is almost complete. Facilities include a huge sports hall, a social room with kitchen, an office, an entrance hall, male, female and disabled toilets and a music room (as yet unfinished)
Facilities for young people include a television, a PS3 and various games, table tennis, pool, table football, football, darts and games. There are a number of sofas and chairs and the Youth Coucil run a tuck shop. All proceeds of which are for the benefit of the Centre.
The centre is used for a number of activities and these include circuit training, cubs, scouts and zimba and may be hired for private events and parties. If you would like to hire the Centre please contact Karen Pinder on 018236801034
The Centre is open for young people every Friday night from 6.30pm til 9.00pm and everyone between the ages of 12/13 and 19 are welcome. The more the merrier.
We will be organising some skills training and activities so it is up to you how the centre progresses. We are confident that the young people will move the project forward with the help of a number of willing adults. We have had offers of help but would love more of you to get involved. Each time the centre is open we need three adults to be present. At the moment the adults have committed to one evening every 8 weeks. Our new programme for the year has been completed and can be found in the Calendar section. As always we have a number of interesting speakers and events planned.
In addition to the monthly meetings there is a Book Club which takes place in members houses and always includes wine and nibbles! There is a trip to War Horse in Wellington and other theatre trips throughout the year are being planned.

Saturday 7th December will once again see the Christmas Fair being held at the Parish Hall. Organised by St Mary's Church with Culm Davy Chapel the afternoon, running from 2 - 4pm ,will see a host of traditional stalls including cakes and savouries, preserves, childrens craft and toys, new items, raffle, delicious teas and mulled wine.
A special guest from the North Pole is also due to attend so do bring your children along to join in the fun.
Calling all young and young at heart!
The village annual Christingle service will take place at the Parish Church this Sunday, 1st December at 4pm. This is a delightful short service which will involve children from the primary school and the presentation of Christingles to one and all depicting Christ as the light of the world. Early morning fog and frost soon clearing to leave a dry and fine day. Plenty of sunny spells, especially through the morning, before turning cloudier from the west later. Breezy at times, especially along the Cornish coastline. Maximum temperature 14 °C.
Cloud continues to spill across from the west, bringing scattered, sometimes heavy showers to western parts this evening and overnight. Some dry spells too, and much milder than recent nights. Minimum temperature 9 °C.
A rather cloudy day with frequent scattered showers moving slowly northeastwards through the day. Light winds at first but becoming breezy, especially along the south coast. Temperatures remaining above average. Maximum temperature 12 °C.
Dry and mild this weekend with cloudier skies on Saturday, but sunshine returning on Sunday. Turning cooler from Monday with thickening cloud bringing patchy rain in places. Breezy at times.
