On a raw Saturday morning and after their heavy defeat at Okehampton last week Hemyock were not looking forward to the physical challange that always comes when they play a very big Feniton side. With just the bare 11 players Hemyock knew they would have to work hard and that is exactly what they did. From the 1st minute to the last minute all the boys challenged for every ball and did not give Feniton the time on the ball they were hoping for. In fact goalie Josh Allen did not have a serious save to make. The only goal came from a a great cross from the right which was finished with a good header. The boys heads did not drop and it took a couple of good saves from the Feniton keeper to keep it 1-0. A special word should go to referee Brian Reeby who ref the match very well under constant moaning from the Feniton players.

can you help?

Many will have read the latest issue of the Parish Pump where there is an appeal for Christmas Shoeboxes for adults and children in Moldova in Eastern Europe. who otherwise are unlikely to receive any gifts at the festive season. If you would like to contribute to this annual appeal and have any queries please contact me on jbawler1947@hotmail.co.uk .

Thank you to the many folk who have donated bedding towards Christian Response to Eastern Europe - there has been an amazing response. If you have bedding - or good quality secondhand clothes -you would like to donate please phone 07773579809 so that we can arrange collection or advise of the drop off point.

All donations need to be received by Sunday 18th November.

Many thanks, Janice

It was with sadness that past and present members of Hemyock Singers heard of the death of Joan Lawrence, Vice President of the group. Joan had been involved with Hemyock Singers for many years mainly as its rehearsal pianist but also singing in a number of choral concerts. In past years Joan had also been involved with many of the stage shows produced by the group and had given hundreds of hours to individual soloists  private rehearsals.

Her service at St Mary's Church, where for many years she had been organist, was attended by Rev Tony Grosse, President, Hemyock Singers; Janice Bawler, Chairman; Rev Ron White, Musical Director, who gave the Eulogy, with past and present members leading the singing.
