Community Trust scheme to build more houses

Do you want more housing built on ‘exceptional sites’ (agricultural land bordering the village which would not usually be available for development)?  Hemyock plans to join with Clayhidon in forming a Community Land Trust. There is only a short window to apply for funding towards this. (Is this being rushed through?) In essence the Community Land Trust would form a partnership with a Housing Association to build houses that would be available to the local community in perpetuity, with a proportion available to Hemyock residents.

It may be news to some readers that hemyock.org carries the draft Minutes of Parish Council meetings, as soon as they are released.   You can see what was proposed and agreed here.

As local government shifts powers to Parish Council level, the actions of the Parish Council become increasingly important to the life of the community.   For example, the Parish Council can take out very substantial loans that will be repaid out of future Precept money for 25 years.

St Mary's Church was buzzing with visitors as it celebrated Heritage Sunday when a display of needlecraft had been arranged by the Friends of St Mary's.

Intricate cross stitich pictures, tapestry, knitting, embroidery, quilting and crochet were amongst the items on show with demonstrations of lace making and teddy bear construction holding the visitors interest.

Music on organ and guitar was supplied by two young sisters, the bell tower was open and as always the Friends supplied delicious tea and cakes.

The day had begun with sung Morning Prayer using the Canticles and readings from King James' bible.

Brian Pretty will be speaking at the 11.15a.m.service on 25th September giving an update on his work in Uganda. Harvest Festival will be celebrated on Friday 30th September at 7pm  and continued at the monthly Family Service at 11.30am two days later. All are welcome.
