Welcome to Hemyock, Anonymous Wednesday, April 29 2026 @ 01:08 pm UTC
Many people have expressed their shock, disbelief and even anger on reading in the last issue of the Pump that our four churches will, in time, be served by a half time Priest. Whether you are a regular churchgoer or not you will be aware of the work carried out by those appointed to the position. Just as a teacher works for many more hours than those spent in school it is more so with a Priest who is on call day and night and with us during our darkest hours as well as those of immense joy. As Rev Sherwood said we are in limbo and there we will remain until a higher power decides on our future or David feels called to elsewhere.
We are running some courses for complete beginners to learn how to use computers. We will be having an open afternoon on Thursday the 17th June between 2:30 and 4pm at Lower Millhayes. You are invited to come and have a look round our new training facilities, and discuss with the trainers what is involved.
Our summer mixed league has started again with both teams doing well after two rounds. If you'd like to take part contact Rachel: rachel_bussell@hotmail.com Matches are played in the evening and are usually mid-week. "Mini-tennis" (small racquets and soft balls) is being run in conjunction with the Primary School for 5-9 yr olds after school this term. It's a good introduction to the sport. This event will be held at Park Farm Wellington (just below the Monument) on the 3rd of July. A family day with the emphasis being every thing "woody", there will be chances to "have a go" at things like hurdle & basket making, green wood working, carving, bodging, tree surgery, furniture making, oak frame building, forest school, willow sculptures.
Dry and sunny today with brisk winds.
Any early mist and fog patches will quickly clear this morning to leave blue skies. Winds will strengthen in the south but it will feel warm in any sheltered spots. Maximum temperature 21 °C.
Staying dry tonight with largely clear skies, although a veil of high cloud will move over at times. A patchy rural frost is possible in the coldest spots. Minimum temperature 6 °C.
Hazy sunshine on Thursday with blustery winds. Feeling chilly in the wind, but warmer in sheltered spots. A small chance of showers in Cornwall at times. Maximum temperature 23 °C.
A warm day on Friday and a little more humid with lighter winds. Turning increasingly cloudy through the weekend with an increasing risk of heavy showers, possibly thundery.
