Welcome to Hemyock, Anonymous Sunday, February 01 2026 @ 08:08 pm UTC
Blackdowns Early Music Festival has become a mainstream event in the musical calendar for lovers of early music. Every year since 2004 expert singers from all over the UK and Europe have gathered together for occasional weekends in Culmstock to work on programmes of mediaeval, renaissance and baroque vocal music.
Rev David Aylmer Evans retired to Hemyock following his final living as Vicar of a group of churches on the Somerset levels. His curacies had been in Wales and Maccelesfield, followed by a living in Chester before moving into school work and later becoming a counsellor at South Molton School and Community College. Unsettled, with further rain and showers into next week.
Turning drier this evening as a rain band clears eastwards, with clear skies developing in the west. Under clear skies ice and fog patches may form. Low cloud creating misty and murky conditions further east but also holding temperatures up. Minimum temperature -2 °C.
Cloud and hill fog in the east gradually lifting with a limited number of bright spells emerging. Rain arriving in the southwest during the afternoon accompanied by strengthening winds. Maximum temperature 9 °C.
Low pressure remains in charge for the first week of February. Further spells of rain and showers likely, which could lead to some isolated flooding in places. Breezy at times.
