Welcome to Hemyock, Anonymous Wednesday, December 03 2025 @ 01:52 pm UTC
Blackdowns Early Music Festival has become a mainstream event in the musical calendar for lovers of early music. Every year since 2004 expert singers from all over the UK and Europe have gathered together for occasional weekends in Culmstock to work on programmes of mediaeval, renaissance and baroque vocal music.
Rev David Aylmer Evans retired to Hemyock following his final living as Vicar of a group of churches on the Somerset levels. His curacies had been in Wales and Maccelesfield, followed by a living in Chester before moving into school work and later becoming a counsellor at South Molton School and Community College. Sunshine and a few showers today.
A dry and bright start for many, though patchy cloud and few showers for western and southern coastal areas. One or two more showers popping up across the region during the day, but overall a good deal of fine weather. Maximum temperature 11 °C.
Early clear spells, but turning increasingly cloudy, with strengthening winds through the evening as a band of rain pushes eastwards overnight, bringing some heavy downpours. Scattered showers feeding in behind. Minimum temperature 6 °C.
Rain gradually clearing from eastern areas. Some brighter spells in the west, and a day of sunshine and scattered showers generally unfolding. Overnight, frost and fog patches may form. Maximum temperature 9 °C.
Friday brings a bright start, but quickly turning unsettled as a rain band with strong winds pushes northeastwards. Remaining unsettled thereafter, with a mix of blustery showers and sunny spells.
