Blackdowns Early Music Festival has become a mainstream event in the musical calendar for lovers of early music. Every year since 2004 expert singers from all over the UK and Europe have gathered together for occasional weekends in Culmstock to work on programmes of mediaeval, renaissance and baroque vocal music.
Rev David Aylmer Evans retired to Hemyock following his final living as Vicar of a group of churches on the Somerset levels. His curacies had been in Wales and Maccelesfield, followed by a living in Chester before moving into school work and later becoming a counsellor at South Molton School and Community College. Often cloudy, but changeable from midweek.
A cloudy and grey start with some showery outbreaks of rain. Skies will brighten during the afternoon with some hazy sunshine developing, these most likely across eastern counties. Near normal temperatures. Maximum temperature 12 °C.
Remaining cloudy overnight, but with a few breaks in the cloud here and there. Some showery outbreaks or rain are possible over parts of Devon and Cornwall. Minimum temperature 4 °C.
A cloudy start for many with patchy drizzle, mostly in the east. However the cloud will lift and break up readily with sunny spells developing. Turning wet and windy later. Maximum temperature 12 °C.
Increasingly changeable from Wednesday, with showers or longer spells of rain. Some sunny spells are also likely, with temperatures near normal, but turning colder by Friday. Windy at times.
