Blackdowns Early Music Festival has become a mainstream event in the musical calendar for lovers of early music. Every year since 2004 expert singers from all over the UK and Europe have gathered together for occasional weekends in Culmstock to work on programmes of mediaeval, renaissance and baroque vocal music.
Rev David Aylmer Evans retired to Hemyock following his final living as Vicar of a group of churches on the Somerset levels. His curacies had been in Wales and Maccelesfield, followed by a living in Chester before moving into school work and later becoming a counsellor at South Molton School and Community College. Unsettled with rain or showers over the coming days.
Heavy showers continue to move eastward through the morning with isolated showers following in behind. Another rather warm day ahead, with temperatures above average for the time of year. Maximum temperature 25 °C.
Bright end to the afternoon with sunny spells giving way to clear spells overnight. Turning increasing cloudy from the west from midnight with outbreaks of heavy and thundery rain arriving. Minimum temperature 14 °C.
A cloudy and wet start with rain, clearing to east during the morning. Turning brighter from the west with sunny spells and showers following. Maximum temperature 23 °C.
Unsettled throughout with showers, these locally heavy and with thundery. Staying warm to start with but turning fresher as winds shift to a westerly and strengthen from Monday.
