Welcome to Hemyock, Anonymous Thursday, September 10 2026 @ 12:22 am UTC
Blackdowns Early Music Festival has become a mainstream event in the musical calendar for lovers of early music. Every year since 2004 expert singers from all over the UK and Europe have gathered together for occasional weekends in Culmstock to work on programmes of mediaeval, renaissance and baroque vocal music.
Rev David Aylmer Evans retired to Hemyock following his final living as Vicar of a group of churches on the Somerset levels. His curacies had been in Wales and Maccelesfield, followed by a living in Chester before moving into school work and later becoming a counsellor at South Molton School and Community College. Changeable next few days, with sunshine and some showery rain.
The evening will start fine with some sunshine, and clear spells are likely overnight. However, cloud will increase from the west, with patchy rain arriving across west Devon and Cornwall. Minimum temperature 7 °C.
Early sunshine is likely in the east on Thursday. However, cloud and patchy rain will spread from the west, heralding an increasingly wet and breezy afternoon. Heavier rain arriving later. Maximum temperature 20 °C.
Friday sees a return to much brighter skies with lighter winds. A spell of wet and windy weather arrives later on Saturday, with the brighter, showery weather back for Sunday.
