At our recent Thursday meeting, Mr Stephen Reed, an archaeologist from Devon County Council, presented a very informative and interesting talk on archaeological activity around Devon including the find of post-mediaeval pottery at the Churchill building site.

Blackdowns Early Music Festival has become a mainstream event in the musical calendar for lovers of early music. Every year since 2004 expert singers from all over the UK and Europe have gathered together for occasional weekends in Culmstock to work on programmes of mediaeval, renaissance and baroque vocal music.
Regency House is the original Hemyock Rectory, built in 1855 with a yard and barn much older than that.
Rev David Aylmer Evans retired to Hemyock following his final living as Vicar of a group of churches on the Somerset levels. His curacies had been in Wales and Maccelesfield, followed by a living in Chester before moving into school work and later becoming a counsellor at South Molton School and Community College.

The Longmead Management Group (LMG) is responsible for developing and maintaining the Longmead sports and leisure facilities.

Cooler and more changeable on Thursday, with spells of rain and showers. Likely to stay unsettled on Friday and Saturday with further rain at times, and temperatures nearer to average.
