Welcome to Hemyock, Anonymous Saturday, January 10 2026 @ 02:51 am UTC
Blackdowns Early Music Festival has become a mainstream event in the musical calendar for lovers of early music. Every year since 2004 expert singers from all over the UK and Europe have gathered together for occasional weekends in Culmstock to work on programmes of mediaeval, renaissance and baroque vocal music.
Rev David Aylmer Evans retired to Hemyock following his final living as Vicar of a group of churches on the Somerset levels. His curacies had been in Wales and Maccelesfield, followed by a living in Chester before moving into school work and later becoming a counsellor at South Molton School and Community College. A more settled Saturday.
Drier with sunny spells in places but still a chance of showers, these wintry at times and most frequent around coasts. Not feeling quite as chilly in parts of Cornwall. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
Turning cold this evening with some patchy frost. Soon clouding over with outbreaks of rain and possibly some sleet over the hills. Winds strengthening overnight. Minimum temperature 3 °C.
An unsettled end to the weekend with outbreaks of rain on Sunday, this turning heavy at times. Often windy, especially around coasts and hills. Milder than of late. Maximum temperature 11 °C.
Turning milder into next week, with periods of heavy showers or longer spells of rain. Winds will strengthen at times, though there will also be some occasional brighter interludes.
