Welcome to Hemyock, Anonymous Saturday, March 14 2026 @ 12:08 am UTC
Blackdowns Early Music Festival has become a mainstream event in the musical calendar for lovers of early music. Every year since 2004 expert singers from all over the UK and Europe have gathered together for occasional weekends in Culmstock to work on programmes of mediaeval, renaissance and baroque vocal music.
Rev David Aylmer Evans retired to Hemyock following his final living as Vicar of a group of churches on the Somerset levels. His curacies had been in Wales and Maccelesfield, followed by a living in Chester before moving into school work and later becoming a counsellor at South Molton School and Community College. Blustery heavy showers. Feeling colder.
Showers continuing this evening, locally heavy with the risk of hail and falling wintry over the moors. Showers easing overnight with clear spells. Turning chilly with a touch of frost. Minimum temperature 1 °C.
A drier day compared to Friday with sunnier spells than of late after a chilly start. A few showers still possible though, especially in the west. Generally light winds. Maximum temperature 10 °C.
Changeable with patchy rain followed by showers on Sunday. Rain and showers on Monday, with drizzle on Tuesday and cloudier. Gradually turning milder, though breezy at times.
