Welcome to Hemyock, Anonymous Saturday, December 13 2025 @ 03:08 pm UTC
Blackdowns Early Music Festival has become a mainstream event in the musical calendar for lovers of early music. Every year since 2004 expert singers from all over the UK and Europe have gathered together for occasional weekends in Culmstock to work on programmes of mediaeval, renaissance and baroque vocal music.
Rev David Aylmer Evans retired to Hemyock following his final living as Vicar of a group of churches on the Somerset levels. His curacies had been in Wales and Maccelesfield, followed by a living in Chester before moving into school work and later becoming a counsellor at South Molton School and Community College. Settled but increasingly cloudy. Windier on Sunday.
A chilly start to begin the weekend with any fog soon clearing. Plenty of sunshine at first, but skies turning hazier into the afternoon as a veil of high level arrives. Becoming breezy, rather gusty, into this evening. Remaining dry. Maximum temperature 11 °C.
Remaining dry through this evening and overnight but becoming increasingly cloudy and windy. Milder than Friday night and staying frost free. Minimum temperature 4 °C.
A cloudier and breezier day compared to Saturday but remaining dry. Some glimmers of sunshine possible in the east. Slightly milder than Saturday. Maximum temperature 12 °C.
Heavy rain moving in on Monday with strong winds. Drier on Tuesday with winds easing. A chilly start to Wednesday, but becoming wet and windy again later.
