Welcome to Hemyock, Anonymous Tuesday, April 07 2026 @ 07:16 am UTC
Blackdowns Early Music Festival has become a mainstream event in the musical calendar for lovers of early music. Every year since 2004 expert singers from all over the UK and Europe have gathered together for occasional weekends in Culmstock to work on programmes of mediaeval, renaissance and baroque vocal music.
Rev David Aylmer Evans retired to Hemyock following his final living as Vicar of a group of churches on the Somerset levels. His curacies had been in Wales and Maccelesfield, followed by a living in Chester before moving into school work and later becoming a counsellor at South Molton School and Community College. Fine, dry and warm today and Wednesday.
A chilly start will lead to a fine and dry day today, with plenty of sunshine, although the sunshine may turn hazy at times. Feeling warm for most, although a little fresher near the south coast. Maximum temperature 22 °C.
A fine evening with some late sunshine. Overnight will remain dry with further clear spells. A little chilly in the countryside but not as cold as recent nights. Minimum temperature 3 °C.
Another fine and dry day with spells of sunshine for much of the region. Possibly turning cloudier at times across Cornwall, especially during the afternoon. Feeling warm with light winds. Maximum temperature 24 °C.
Cooler and more changeable on Thursday, with spells of rain and showers. Likely to stay unsettled on Friday and Saturday with further rain at times, and temperatures nearer to average.
